So there she is …. My addiction

Lovingly called Blue_thing  -- I know naming a car is a bit corny but who hasn’t got a secret name for theirs right.

The car is a Mk5 R32 originally modified and turbo converted by MTM (Motoren Technik Mayer) tuning currently running a Gtx3076R turbo with upgraded m spec core from Owen Developments at ~600HP with headroom for more in the future. Controlled by Syvecs S6 ECU with Bluetooth controller connected to a mini iPad as display in the cab. Modified front end to accommodate HGP intercoolers.

I didn’t set out to buy an R32, in fact, I wasn’t even looking. I was after a cheap run around car for work, which got me introduced to Andy from Storm Developments and I ended up buying a modified Golf GTI (yes I know hardly a cheap run around but it drove lovely). A few weeks later I got to see and test drive the R32 and I quickly exchanged the GTI.

The 32 came with MTM turbo conversion, a modified gearbox, blue Haldex controller, ECU with custom map, forget engine, forged air intake, custom build front brakes, wingback seats, and Bilstein B14 suspension set up and 19”BBS CH-R rims.

The plan has always been to keep the car happy and reliable underperformance, as well as to maintain as much as possible of the original work done by MTM.

Over the years of ownership, a lot has been changed, tried, tested, re-changed, and upgraded. It took me over a year to admit that the 18” wheels helped with a better ride –(I like the big wheel look).

We went thru the typical time of finding weak points where work was needed and carried out.  Although frustrating at the time it is part of owning a modified car and pushing it far beyond the limits of what it was intended for.

She is not a show queen but I have and will continue to enjoy meets and car shows and cannot wait to see everyone and their cars again.
